Our system was outdated and maintenance cost a fortune

Major issues:

  • Unix outdated system;
  • Management Information was hard to obtain;
  • Many discrepancies in job costing;
  • High maintenance cost with unplanned downtime.

Require solution:

  • Advanced technology based on Windows;
  • Information available in real time;
  • Module adapted for the manufacturing project management;
  • Easy reporting to get the data we need to run the business.

« We used a Unix system for many years. The system was outdated and maintenance costs were disproportionate to the service received. We had to think about change. What worried us most was the migration of critical information accumulated on our system. In addition, the systems available on the market at that time did not meet our manufacturing needs of project management.

JBM Logic team was already working with us on projects and office network. Jean-Francois Brodeur proposed to install modules for accounting and inventory as well as configure the manufacturing module to fit the made to order project manufacturing need. It was the best proposal of the market. Needs and timelines have been clearly defined. A fully integrated system, which uses the latest technology and allows for in-house reporting needs. This is what we needed and for more than ten years we are completely satisfied.

Our products are built according to our customer specifications. We can not have incorrect inventory information as this would impact our supply management and project delay. We must manage our manufacturing costs by project and all costs must be available in real time. Because of the nature of our business,  our needs are changing rapidly. E-business integration allows us to adapte reports, and even some system functions in-house when required. In addition, the concept of ‘’All in one’’ protects the customizations during updates, we never lost our customizations. »

All systems are not equal. Some are better suited than others to specific environments. But beyond the capabilities, the knowledge, skills and especially attitude of the team that supports the client are factors that greatly influence the success of implantation.

Management of Job cost was quickly identified as critical for Pyradia. The cost of raw materials associated with products for each project was paramount. The time worked by each person on each project was also vital. The time management module was implemented and sending data directly to the manufacturing module and payroll system has improved productivity. Once payroll is processed, the General Ledger entry is automatically transferred. The risk of error is virtually nil.

Pyradia exports more than 50% of its production in the United States. The accounting system must support multi-currency. The monitoring of customer accounts, including the time elapsed since the last billing is also a feature appreciated by the accounting team.

« With an extraordinary commitment, effective communication and understanding of operations, business and the needs of Pyradia, JBM Logic team has been successful in Pyradia implantation.  After over 15 years, we are experiencing a strong partnership. »

Jean-François Brodeur
President JBM Logic
